The Big Climb

For the past month I've had this wild idea to do something a little bit crazy on the first day of spring. To my delight, I thought I had found the perfect way to welcome the spring season when I stumbled across The Big Climb!

The Big Climb is a huge fundraiser put on by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) at the Columbia Center in downtown Seattle (you know, the big black skyscraper that towers over all the rest). Participants climb 69 flights of stairs in an effort to raise money for the LLS, whose mission is to find a cure for blood cancers. Considering the shape I'm in, participating in The Big Climb would definitely be on the verge of crazy. And considering the toll blood cancer has had on my family, my desire for adventure would be fulfilled by an extremely deserving cause.

The bad news is The Big Climb has already reached its limit for participants, and I was unable to register. I'll have to come up with another crazy way to bid farewell to winter.
The good news is I have a friend in Seattle, Bad News Ben, who actually registered in time and gets to make The Big Climb. I won't be able to join in the madness, so I figured the least I could was donate and help Ben reach his fundraising goal.
You can donate, too! I realize there are a thousand causes out there worthy of your donation (Haiti Quake, AIDS, etc.), but because this cause has a special place in my heart, I'd urge you to consider giving a few dollars to the LLS. And it's so easy!
1. Go to The Big Climb web site
2. Click Donate
3. Type in Ben Greif's name (Ben Greif)
4. Donate!
There is also a general fund for donation if you don't feel comfortable pledging to a stranger called Bad News Ben.
I may not get to do The Big Climb this year, but I'm happy to say I can still make a difference.
